NaduJayalalithaasubsidizedPalkMaking a statement in the assembly, she said the government will also supply high frequency radio equipment to fishermen, who go for deep fishing. She said the price of the VHF radio is Rs 20,000 and the government will give it to fishermen at 75% subsidised rate. Likewise, HF radio, which costs Rs 2.5 lakh in the market, will be given at a similar subsidised price. The fishing harbour at Royapuram and Kasimedu in the city will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 70 crore. The funds will be used to set up parking facility for boats, establishing fishing net repair centre and for installing solar lights.The chief minister informed the House that 15-acre lake area in Chetpet will be given a face lift by converting it as ‘Sports Fishing-cum-Eco Park’ at a cost of Rs 42 crore. Waters sports, open theaters and play ground will be established in the park.
